Page 1: Information about the College of Paramedics' Small Grants for Research

PRACTICAL INFORMATION BEFORE YOU START YOUR APPLICATION:

The College of Paramedics is running a small grant scheme that aims to support members to carry out research studies. If you want to see all of the sections in the application before you start filling in your application please click HERE.

The linked document is a sample only which gives you access to all the information before you start the process. You can only submit your application via this online site but the pdf document allows you to prepare the necessary and relevant information in advance, so I hope this is helpful.

Once you have started your application you can save it and return to it later if you do not have time to complete it all in one sitting. Again I hope that this function improves your application experience.

At the end, once you have finished your submission, you will have an opportunity to download a copy of your application for your records.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE SMALL GRANTS FOR RESEARCH SCHEME:

A total of three studies will be funded to a maximum of £1,250 each. The money can be used to support any aspect of the study including, but not limited to:

  • salary costs
  • specific research equipment
  • specific software, for example, for analysis
  • support costs for lay/public involvement if these cannot be sourced elsewhere
  • transcription.

The money cannot be used to pay for fees or travel costs incurred as part of a programme of study or conference attendance.

Applications for funding are invited from members of the College of Paramedics who are interested in enhancing their research activity. Applications can be from an individual person, or a team of people, but cannot be used towards part of a study that is already in receipt of funding from elsewhere.

We believe that research should be accessible to all and we wish to encourage people from any background to apply as we work towards our profession becoming more diverse, inclusive, and representative. To undertake rigorous research people need to have some research skills and knowledge but, if you have an idea for research but maybe do not yet have sufficient experience to undertake this research on your own, (although I suggest that all research benefits from collaborative working no matter what our level of research expertise!), then why not team up with someone who has got relevant experience and then you can work together to submit an application.  If you don't know where to start with this, then please do contact me and I can try and point you in the right direction.

The research grant can be used for any topic at all relevant to our profession, including research topics that would lead to better understanding and outcomes for the diverse communities that we serve.

Criteria for eligibility:

  • The lead applicant must be a current full member of the College of Paramedics
  • The applicant(s) must demonstrate that the study is relevant to the Paramedic profession

  • The successful award holder(s) must agree to publish their main paper to include results/findings in the British Paramedic Journal before publishing elsewhere
  • The researcher(s) must not be in receipt of any other funding associated with this study
